Why record 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U baseball games?
Isn’t that like recording fireworks on the Fourth of July or your kids’ Christmas program at daycare?
Who even cares?
Simply put:
1. The coaches care. They can use this footage as a great learning aid for the team. They can see what works, what doesn’t, who needs extra lessons as a pitcher or who needs more time in the cages. They can also double check the score book and get more accurate stats for the team. One thing I’ve learned over the years is baseball is ALL about the stats.
2. The parents care. Sometimes parents can’t make it to the game. If your kid had a great hit in the 4th inning wouldn’t it be nice to see it later on? Wouldn’t it be cool to brag about it on social media and actually have a clip to post?
3. The grandparents care. Let’s face it. Grandma and Pop Pop can’t make it to the field like they used to. They may even live in a different time zone now. I’ve had many grandparents tell me they appreciate the work I put into this.
4. The players care. Maybe not right now… but they will. These are memories that will last a lifetime. One thing I like to do is keep a running highlight reel for each player through the whole season then at the end they have a nice thing they can post to social media, or mom and dad can share to gloat about their little superstar. Just give me some credit when they dig this up on ESPN during the World Series in 15 years.
